Episode 299i: French Open Day 4: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
Wednesday Jun 02, 2021
Wednesday Jun 02, 2021
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has been winning matches at Grand Slams for a long time, and she makes an overdue visit to NCR after winning her second round match at Roland Garros on Wednesday.
Ben and Nastia discuss changes in her motivation over her career, what she's looking for in a coach, trying to keep her individuality in a cookie cutter world, mental health in tennis, and, most crucially, how our Eurovision tastes align.
Thank you again for the incredible support for NCR we've received on the NCR Patreon which has powered us into our TENTH(!) season! Episode 299c: NCRvision Spotlight: Dan Bern
Thursday May 20, 2021
Thursday May 20, 2021
It's that wonderful time of year, for the first time in two years: Eurovision!
At NCR, Eurovision means NCRvision, our celebration of the intersection of tennis and music--main show here; results show here--where we've found this episode's troubadour.
Dan Bern, the singer-songwriter whose song "Isner and Mahut" closed out NCRvision, joins Ben to chat and play a live concert of several of his original songs inspired by tennis players of the past and present.
It's a show like none we've ever done before on NCR, and we do hope you enjoy it.
If you want to hear more from Dan, he has newly bundled 15 of his original tennis songs together on his Bandcamp for you to check out.
Thank you again for the incredible support for NCR we've received on the NCR Patreon which has powered us into our TENTH(!) season! Episode 294: Our Man in Rotterdam
Saturday Mar 06, 2021
Saturday Mar 06, 2021
With the tours continuing onward amid the pandemic, we welcome NCR's Dutch Lowlands and Caucasus Highlands correspondent David Avakian joins from Rotterdam to update us on the tournament there, which has long been a jewel of the indoor circuit.
We discuss what the tournament has done to not look sad despite being empty, the role of appearance fees and entry list uncertainty, and the beautiful syllables of the Dutch language.

Episode 257b: The NCRvision Results Show Spectacular!
Tuesday May 26, 2020
Tuesday May 26, 2020
Four years after we launched NCRvision into this world, we're finally able to bring some closure to the adventures of our 26 heroic songs inspired by tennis, and to enjoy a whole lot of fun side quests along the way!
We've counted the 411(!) ballots that our listeners cast, and we reveal the finishing order of the songs from 26th to champion, having a whole lot of fun along the way.
We start with a recap of the show and an interview with Eurovision expert William Lee Adams who lends his expert eye to our field. Then we have tons and tons of montages of bonus songs, interviews of artists, and more surprises along the way.
Hopefully you'll have as much fun with the way this whole NCRvision journey wraps up as we have had putting it together. Thank you again for your votes, and for your patience. Getting this done was a major undertaking, and we're very relieved it is finally complete.
If you'd like to support our show, particularly as our normal work has disappeared along with the sport, we've launched an NCR Patreon where you can do just that! Check out our five tiers and see which might be right for you! And thank you to the many listeners who have already given their support! (And thank you to G.O.A.T. backer J O'D!)

Episode 205: Rekindling Our Fuego
Tuesday May 22, 2018
Tuesday May 22, 2018
After an unintentionally long hiatus, Ben and Courtney are back together on the NCR airwaves from Paris, where they play a bit of catchup and try to set the table for the French Open ahead (with further draw dissection to come once it's out).
First, has much really changed compared to this time last year? What do we expect of Serena, and what do we make of the controversy which has arisen about her not being seeded for the tournament? Are seedings earned protections based on results, or projections of potential to win? And can Sascha Zverev finally do at Slams what he's done on tour?
That and more. Yeah, yeah, fire.

Episode 187a: NCRvision Song Contest Revisited
Saturday May 13, 2017
Saturday May 13, 2017
It's Eurovision season again, and it's NCRvision season again! One year after we launched the NCRvision Song Contest, we're happy to be able to bring it back to you to gear up from the results show, which will be coming in a few days. It's possible that some of these amazing songs have faded from your memory (or that you missed them altogether), so we're bringing you this refresher of the show, a bit condensed, with a new intro and outro.
And in the grand Eurovision tradition of terrible singing by a host, there's terrible singing by a host!
(NOTE: This file originally had some issues--if your version is still only 31 minutes and not the full 1h28m, delete and redownload)
